INCIDENT:     CHILD ABDUCTION ARREST       

DATE:             APRIL 07, 2013

SUSPECT: WALFRE WALDEMAR PEREZ of CALIFORNIA

CHARGED:  CHILD ABDUCTION (Ca. Code: 278.5)

VICTIM:  16 MOS. MALE

WHAT HAPPENED:

ON APRIL 6, 2013, AROUND 0400 AM, AN ABDUCTION OCCURRED IN HAYWARD, CA IN WHICH A NON-CUSTODIAL PARENT REMOVED A CHILD FROM A RESIDENCE. THE MALE SUBJECT FLED CALIFORNIA WITH THE CHILD IN A GRAY BMW WITH CA PLATES.

THE SUSPECT USED A PHONE IN IDAHO AROUND 2200 BUT OFFICERS WERE UNABLE TO LOCATE HIM IN THE AREA.

ON APRIL 07, AROUND 0800, OFFICERS LOCATED THE SUSPECT’S VEHICLE IN A TRAILER PARK OFF OF LINDEN STREET. OFFICERS SET UP SURVEILLANCE ON THE CAR FOR SEVERAL HOURS. OFFICERS WITNESSED A MALE GET INTO THE CAR WITH A SMALL CHILD. CALDWELL POLICE OFFICERS STOPPED THE VEHICLE AND WERE ABLE TO RESCUE THE CHILD. THE SUSPECT WAS ARRESTED ON A FELONY ABDUCTION WARRANT OUT OF CALIFORNIA AND WAS TRANSPORTED TO CANYON COUNTY JAIL AWAITING EXTRADITION.

 

THE CHILD WAS FED AND IS DOING WELL. THE CHILD WILL BE RELEASED TO HAYWARD POLICE WHO ARE FLYING IN AN OFFICER TO TAKE CUSTODY AND RETURN HIM TO HIS MOTHER.
